Haiku

Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry consisting of three lines with 5-7-5 syllables.

Here are three haikus I wrote about Akitas (also see the Hachiko link)

FAREWELL TO THREE AKITAS
By M.R. Street

Akita Mani
Yo -- observe all as you go
Through life brief and bright

Tanka Matohla
Big bear cub in the night sky
Black hills are crying

Japanese Werewolf
Ashes and spirit escape
Under the full moon

and here is one I wrote about our dog, Annie:

ANNIE
By M.R. Street

Golden-red fur ball
Queen of slobbery kisses
Mermaid with four paws

Do you like to write haiku? Send your original haiku to me HERE along with your first name, your age, city, and the library you like to visit in your city (your school's library or your local public library). I will publish as many as possible on my website. Approximately every six months, I will choose one haiku and donate a signed copy of my book, BLUE ROCK RESCUE, to your favorite library!
